The Honest Woodcutter - Hindi Translation

Once there was a woodcutter, who lived in a village.
Hindi Anuvad: Ek baar ki baat hai, ek lakadhara tha jo ek gaon mein rahta tha.

He was a very honest man.
Hindi Anuvad: Vah bahut imandar vyakti tha.

One day he was cutting wood with his axe.
Hindi Anuvad: Ek din vah apni kulhadi se lakdi kaat raha tha.

It was a very hot day.
Hindi Anuvad: Vah bahut garm din tha.

He felt thirsty and went to the river to drink water.
Hindi Anuvad: Use pyas lagi aur vah pani peene ke liye nadi par gaya.

His axe slipped accidentally from his hand and fell into the river.
Hindi Anuvad: Uski kulhadi achanak uske haath se phisal gayi aur nadi mein gir gayi.

The woodcutter started crying.
Hindi Anuvad: Lakadhara rone laga.

The River Goddess heard his cry and felt pity on him, she came out of the water.
Hindi Anuvad: Nadi ki devi ne uski rone ki aawaz suni aur use dekhkar daya mehsoos ki. Vah pani se bahar aayin.

Hindi Anuvad: Lakadhara: Meri kulhadi nadi mein gir gayi hai. Ab main kya karunga? Main apne parivar ke liye kaise kamaunga?

The Goddess went into the water and came out with a golden axe.
Hindi Anuvad: Devi pani mein gain aur sone ki kulhadi lekar bahar aayin.

Goddess: Is this your axe gentleman?
Hindi Anuvad: Devi: Kya yah tumhari kulhadi hai, mahoday?

Woodcutter: No, no; This is a golden axe but my axe was made of iron.
Hindi Anuvad: Lakadhara: Nahin, nahin. Yah sone ki kulhadi hai, lekin meri kulhadi lohe ki bani hui thi.

The River Goddess went into the water again and came out with a silver axe.
Hindi Anuvad: Nadi ki devi phir se pani mein gain aur chandi ki kulhadi lekar bahar aayin.

Goddess: Is this your axe dear?
Hindi Anuvad: Devi: Kya yah tumhari kulhadi hai, priya?

Woodcutter: No, no; This is a silver axe but my axe was made of iron.
Hindi Anuvad: Lakadhara: Nahin, nahin. Yah chandi ki kulhadi hai, lekin meri kulhadi lohe ki bani hui thi.

The River Goddess went into the water again and came out with an iron axe.
Hindi Anuvad: Nadi ki devi phir se pani mein gain aur lohe ki kulhadi lekar bahar aayin.

Goddess: Is this yours?
Hindi Anuvad: Devi: Kya yah tumhari hai?
