यह कविता एक बच्चे के अपनी मां के प्रति प्रेम और सम्मान को व्यक्त करती है। बच्चा अपनी मां को अपने जीवन में बहुत महत्वपूर्ण मानता है। वह अपनी मां की तुलना दिन के सूर्य के प्रकाश और दूर दिखाई देने वाले चांद से करता है।
बच्चा कहता है कि उसकी मां उस पेड़ की तरह है जिसका वह सहारा लेता है। उसकी मां उसकी परेशानियों को दूर करती है और उसे जीवन जीना सिखाती है। मां उसे सही और गलत का अंतर समझाती है तथा लड़ाई न करने की सीख देती है।
बच्चे के लिए उसकी मां उसके गीत के शब्द, उसका प्रेम और उसका जीवन है। मां उसकी देखभाल करती है, उसे देखने में सहायता करती है और उसे सबसे अच्छी तरह समझती है। वह बच्चे के खेलने और आराम करने के समय को भी जानती है।
बच्चा कहता है कि उसकी मां ने उसे सपने देखना सिखाया है। वह उसके दिल की बात और उसकी परेशानियों को समझती है। जब बच्चा जीवन से डरता है और प्रेम की तलाश करता है, तब भी वह अपनी मां को अपने लिए भगवान का आशीर्वाद मानता है।
अंत में बच्चा अपनी मां को अपना दोस्त, अपना दिल और अपनी आत्मा बताता है। उसके लिए उसकी मां दुनिया की सबसे अच्छी दोस्त है। वह अपनी मां को अपने प्रेम और जीवन का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा मानता है।
