The Responsible King - हिंदी अनुवाद
बहुत समय पहले एक राजा था जो नदी के किनारे बने एक महल में रहता था। वह दुखी था क्योंकि उसके राज्य के लोग गैर-जिम्मेदार थे। जब भी वह अपने रथ में बाहर जाता, तो सड़कों पर पत्थर और कचरा पड़ा हुआ देखता था। जब भी वह नाव में नदी की यात्रा करता, तो नदी बहुत गंदी मिलती थी।
राजा सोचता था कि उसके लोग इतने गैर-जिम्मेदार क्यों हैं और वे सड़कों को साफ क्यों नहीं रखते। कुछ समय सोचने के बाद उसने निश्चय किया कि वह अपने लोगों को एक सबक सिखाएगा।
एक रात वह सोने के सिक्कों की एक थैली लेकर मुख्य सड़क पर गया। उसका वज़ीर भी उसके साथ था। उसने सड़क के बीच में एक गड्ढा देखा और उसमें सोने के सिक्के रख दिए। फिर राजा और वज़ीर ने उस गड्ढे को एक बड़े पत्थर से ढक दिया।
अगले दिन एक आदमी कोयले से भरी गाड़ी लेकर उस सड़क से गुजरा। उसने सड़क के बीच में बड़ा पत्थर देखा, लेकिन उसे हटाने की चिंता नहीं की। वह अपनी गाड़ी को पत्थर के चारों ओर से निकालकर चला गया।
फिर एक दूसरा आदमी भेड़ों और बकरियों के झुंड के साथ वहाँ आया। उसने भी पत्थर पर ध्यान नहीं दिया और अपने झुंड को दूसरी ओर से ले गया।
बहुत से अन्य लोग भी उसी सड़क से गुजरे, लेकिन सभी इतने गैर-जिम्मेदार थे कि किसी ने भी पत्थर हटाने की कोशिश नहीं की।
अंत में राजा ने अपने राज्य के सभी लोगों को बुलाया और कहा कि आओ, सड़क से पत्थर हटाएँ। जब लोगों ने पत्थर को हटाया, तो वे गड्ढे में सोने के सिक्के देखकर चकित रह गए।
राजा ने कहा कि पत्थर के नीचे सोने के सिक्के थे, लेकिन किसी ने पत्थर हटाने की कोशिश नहीं की। यदि कोई जिम्मेदार होता और पत्थर हटा देता, तो सोने के सिक्के उसी के होते।
राजा ने वज़ीर को आदेश दिया कि सोने के सिक्कों को महल में ले जाए। यह सुनकर लोगों को अपनी गलती पर शर्म आई और उन्हें पछतावा हुआ।
