अब्दुल हमीद भारतीय सेना में Company Quarter Master Havildar थे। उनका जन्म 1 जुलाई 1933 को उत्तर प्रदेश के गाजीपुर जिले के धामूपुर गाँव में हुआ था। उनके माता-पिता का नाम सकीना बेगम और मोहम्मद उस्मान था।
1965 के भारत-पाकिस्तान युद्ध के दौरान पाकिस्तानी सेना के Patton Tanks भारतीय क्षेत्र की ओर बढ़ रहे थे। अब्दुल हमीद अपनी कंपनी के सैनिकों के साथ उनका सामना करने के लिए तैयार थे। उनके पास एक विशेष gun थी और वे बहुत अच्छे निशानेबाज थे।
अब्दुल हमीद ने एक-एक करके कई पाकिस्तानी tanks को निशाना बनाया और उनमें आग लगा दी। दुश्मन ने भी उन्हें निशाना बनाया। एक shell उनकी jeep से टकराया और वे गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए। फिर भी उन्होंने हिम्मत नहीं हारी और अपने सैनिकों को आगे बढ़कर लड़ने का आदेश दिया।
अंत में अब्दुल हमीद देश के लिए शहीद हो गए। उन्हें मरणोपरांत Param Vir Chakra से सम्मानित किया गया। उनके गाँव का नाम बदलकर Hamid Dham रखा गया।
